| The vineyard is situated astride the village boundaries of Cunèges (11 hectares) and Sigoulès (15 hectares), 15 km from the town of Bergerac, on a clayed-and sandy-limestone plateau. | |
History :The property was acquired by my grandparents in 1963 and, in 1972, my father and uncle set up the G.A.E.C. du Meyrand (an agricultural economic interest group), to take over and run the family estate. I personally bought back the property in January 2000 and changed the G.A.E.C. into the S.C.E.A. du Meyrand. 63 hectares are currently farmed, including 26 ha of vines. The vineyard has been entirely reorganized since 1973. Functional and modern in design, the chai, or wine storehouse, has increased its capacity from 2.700 to 3.550 hectolitres. It is fitted out with state-of-the-art equipment guaranteeing an elaborated end-product of the highest quality, particularly with regards to dry white wines and red wines where temperature control is vital during the fermentation process and in the maceration tanks. In 1973, first bottling was carries out under the “Chateau Meyrand Lacombe” name, coming from the different plots of land which make up the vineyard, a label which is still used today. |
